20th December 2006 -

There is some more information appearing on December's Page and with the club operating in the Riding's Premier league in 2007, and promotion into Division 1 of the Pocklington Times League, and also competing in the North Yorkshire League for the first time, you can find all the fixtures here.

For those who missed the Club Championship results, please feel free to download a complete set of results. A report reflecting this gala will appear on the website in the very near future, as will a report in the Local Press.

18th December 2006 -

The pool is now shut until we all go back on the 4th January 2007. The club has continued to be quite active with swimmers attending the annual Scarborough & District Sport's awards presentation at the Spa Hotel. The club has a long tradition of swimmers achieving awards, and this year proved no exception where Paul Hargreaves and Ross Clegg won their respective age category and with Sarah Roberts and James Sowersby receiving nominations. The Complete Open water squad won the team award, so congratulations go to all award recipients.

The club gain promotion to Division 1 of the Pocklington League. By coming runners-up in the last gala of the season, Scarborough gained promotion to the 1st Division - Well done again!

 

21st October 2006 -

Scarborough Swimming Club had Twelve swimmers compete at the Yorkshire Winter Agegroup Championships held at Sheffield's Ponds Forge on the 15th and 16th October 2006, with Eight swimmers winning their way through to fifteen finals. Ross Clegg, 14, battled through to three finals winning Gold in the 100m Backstroke, (1:03.55) and was 5th in the 100m Freestyle final, (58.02) and earned an 8th place in the 200m IM (2:27.95) Sam Broadley, 9, competing in his first Yorkshire Championships and who was one of the youngest swimmers at the event, made four finals bringing home two medals; Silver in the 50m Backstroke, (39.95) and a Bronze secured in the 50m Freestyle, (34.59) just missing out of a medal in the 100m Individual Medley coming 4th in a time of 1:33.32, and with a 6th place coming in the 50m Butterfly final. (44.20) Gareth Mills, 13, , also involved in three finals, picked up a Bronze medal during the 100m Butterfly (1:07.14) with a 5th place coming in the 200m IM in a time of 2:30.95, and was also involved in the 100m Breaststroke final (10th in 1:22.79)

Others to battle it through to the finals were: David Couch, 10, (50m Butterfly - 38.63) Jordan Doubtfire, 9, also in his first Yorkshire championships, made it to the final of the 50m Butterfly, but was disqualified at the start of the race. Hannah Broadley, 12, was placed 10th during the final of the 100m Freestyle (1:09.73), and although not winning a medal, she achieved the North Eastern District qualifying time for the event. Ben Moverley, 11, came 7th in the 100m Butterfly final (1:24.36) and Robert Harvey, 13, won through to his first Yorkshire final during the 100m Backstroke, where he came 8th in a time of 1:12.17. The Twelve swimmers to compete in the championships were: Adam, Sam and Hannah Broadley, Ross Clegg, Gareth Mills, David Couch, Jordan Doubtfire, Ben Moverley, Robert Harvey, Rebecca Cox, Chloe Pattison and Cana Machen. Well done to them all!
Kingfisher swimmer, Rebecca Whaling, 11, fought her way through the heats of the 100m Backstroke, but was disqualified in the final.

16th October 2006 -

Now the Open Water season is finished, there is time to reflect what has been a successful season once again.

15th October 2006 - Scarborough A & B Gala 2007 now advertised!

 

4th September 2006 - Don't forget we are all back at the club on the 7th September.

29th August 2006 - Sorry about the delay in updating the website in recent weeks.

There has been quite a bit of swimming activity however, during the month, and the majority of it has been covered in a number of small reports which can be found on the August's news page.

18th July 2006 - It's been a very busy period for the club. James Sowersby winning Gold at both Bosworth and Wykeham Open Water Grand Prix events, with Aaron Yeoman picking up silver at Bosworth and Adam Harvey the Open bronze medal at Wykeham.

3rd July 2006 - Open water news, where Aaron Yeoman, Adam Harvey and James Sowersby were all in International action, along with a report from the A&B Gala, and both Pocklington and Ridings league pages have been updated.

22nd June 2006 - Scarborough A&B Gala results can be found here. (The file is now the results and not the entry list!)

7th June - Ross Glegg and Gareth Mills both achieve Finals in the ASANER Agegroups on Bank Holiday Monday. Both miss out of the medals with Ross in 4th place in the 400m Freestyle and Gareth in 6th. Gareth was to finish in 8th place in the 100m Butterfly.

4th June - "Dynamic Duo Do Distance Double!" - Both Sarah Roberts and Adam Harvey won their respective events at the Budworth Mere swim on Saturday - Well done to them.

Ross Glegg achieves three finals at the ASANER Agegroup Champs in Sheffield, on day one of the event and wins a Bronze medal in the 100m Freestyle - Well Done Ross. Others were also in action. Their results can be found on the June News page.


28th May - Read about the club's open water successes, as well as the updates to the Ridings League results. A Photo from the charity 'swim for Malaria' too.

9th May - Scarborough finish 2nd to Kingston Upon Hull, but could have secured the gala but for DQ's: 1st Hull 146pts, Scarborough 139pts, 3rd South Hunsley 95pts, 4th New Earswick 92pts - Adwick did not swim.

1st May - Paul Hargreaves makes 2 finals in the ASANER Senior/Junior Champs, and wins the Youth Bronze medal in the 50m Breaststroke, and both him and Laurence Mills both make National Qualifying Times!

24th Apr - Club loses first Ridings Div 1 Gala by 1 point! - Kingfishers 144 pts, Scarborough 143 pts, Thirsk 98 pts, Bridlington 91 pts

10th Apr - Aimee Ramm in 3 finals at British Championships - Bronze medal won during the 50m Free final - Well done Aimee!

9th Apr - More medals won at Harrogate Long distance meet - Laurence Mills Gold and two Silvers!

1st Apr - Sarah Roberts wins 200m Freestyle at National Schools Finals in Loughborough! - A great effort!

3rd Apr - IMPORTANT CHANGE TO THE A & B CUT-OFF TIME FOR 10YR BOYS 100M IM. TIME IS 1:29.50 FOR THE A GRADE VICE 1:39.50 AS SHOWN. THE A & B SECRETARY IS TO CONTACT ALL CLUBS ENTERED.
