This has been by far the best competition I have been involved with since joining Scarborough, a view I think shared not only by those parents and supporters who have followed the four galas this year, but judging by all the comments made at the Hull A & B grade gala by many people from that club as well. It's certainly music to the ears when the Hull coaching staff make unsolicited remarks about how impressed they have been with the Scarborough team.
In the last gala at Adwick, we actually won 24 out of the 48 events, an impressive statistic at this level. There were many very good swims but AIMEE RAMM'S performance in winning the Open 100m Free and fly not to mention her contribution to two relay wins was just outstanding, she definitely wore the biggest smile of the day. It's not often that the result of a swimming gala goes to the very last relay and some of our parents got so excited they couldn't bear to look!
Results of the Pocklington galas this season were:
17/4/99 at Scarborough: Scarborough 136, Hull A 124, Adwick 119, New Earswick 99
15/5/99 at New Earswick Hull A 149, Scarborough 125, Adwick 115, New Earswick 90
18/9/99 at Hull Hull A 246, Scarborough 232, Adwick 194, New Earswick 183
3/10/99 at Adwick Hull A 145, Scarborough 145, Adwick 100, News Earswick 89
LEAGUE TABLE 1st Division 1999 1st DIVISION 2000
HULL A 14.5 points HULL A
SCARBOROUGH 13.5 points SCARBOROUGH
ADWICK 8 points ADWICK
NEW EARSWICK 4 points ASKERN
2ND DIVISION
Not Much information about the other two divisions. However, in the 2nd Division, the last gala was at Rossington with any one of three clubs still able to win the title. However, there was a mix up over the starting times which eventually meant that Bridlington missed the gala through no fault of their own. The eventual winners of this league were Askern, so will shall look forward to them in 2000.
3RD DIVISION
In the 3rd Division, SOUTH HUNSLEY have been convincing winners, congratulations to them!
