8th March 2007 - Well folks, it would now appear that the club's website is back with us. I have had quite a few discussions with 'Orange' who now assure me that they have fixed the problem (Just when I was going to move to someone else!)
The entries for the A & B gala in June has been taking entries, and if there is any club out there that still wishes to get into our gala they will have to get a move on as entries are now limited and the closing date is getting closed - 30th April - although I do believe that we will be full with the next few weeks.
27th March 2007 - The club has won its first Pocklington times gala back in February, and competed in the first friendly league gala of the season. Read how we did below:
Pocklington Times Division 1 Gala - Scarborough Indoor Pool - 10th February 2007
Scarborough Swimming Club began their 2007 season of team galas with two highly successful outings. The first home gala for Scarborough was part of the Pocklington Times League, which is seen as the premier team event. Now in Division 1 Scarborough are competing against teams from Hull, Wakefield, Askern Spa (Doncaster) and South Holderness. Our younger swimmers began well in the Medley team relays, as they picked up four 2nd places. This set up the 15 & under boys along with the boys and girls Open teams to claim the top spot. The individual races provided very close competition, with the teams recording victories. Double wins for Jack Colley, David Couch, Ross Glegg and Julie Owen helped contribute to the 12 individual wins Scarborough managed to secure. This meant that at the start of the final Freestyle relays, Scarborough were just 1 point behind the gala leaders Askern Spa. These relays provided rich pickings for the home team, as they provided four 1st places and four 2nd places. This outstanding team performance, along with a lot of encouragement both from swimmers and the large crowd of supporters, helped to secure overall victory for the Scarborough side by 8 points.
Final Gala Result: 1st Scarborough 138pts, 2nd Askern Spa 130pts, 3rd Wakefield- 119pts, 4th Hull 77pts.
Other team members were: Sam Broadley, Michael Hernandez-Fardoe, Callum Moverley, Ben Moverley, Robert Harvey, Gareth Mills, Liam Thraves, James Sowersby, Paul Hargreaves, Adam Harvey, Laurence Mills, Sophie Shepherd, Hayley Goodall, Samantha Gibson, Chloe Pattison, Rebecca Cox, Cana Machen, Hannah Thraves, Hannah Couch, Hannah Broadley, Emily Lucas, Sarah Roberts and Emma Couch.

Friendly League Gala - Bridlington Pool - 17th February 2007
The following weekend Scarborough travelled down the coast to Bridlington, to compete in their first Friendly League Gala of the season. These galas are aimed at the younger age groups and are intended to help develop valuable experience of competitions. The gala got off to an excellent start, with wins for both the Boys and Girls 9 years Medley Relay Team. Ben Hoggarth, Will Gibson, James Thompson and Luke Goodall all managed to achieve Personal Best times in their first swim in a team gala. The Girls team of Yuko Crawford, Imogen Kinrade, Jace Cappleman and Melissa Cooper all put in strong performances to come away with top spot. The first set of relays produced 23 PB's from 28 swims, which set the scene for the performances to follow. This saw a large number of PB's fall for our swimmers across their individual swims, along with a number of 1st places in a surprisingly competitive gala. Those who finished in front of the rest were Yuko Crawford, Jace Cappleman, Robert Mort and Aaron Pattison. The final set of Freestyle Relays, saw 12 of our swimmers claim personal best times, with the 9yrs girls doing the double to take spot again. The gala had an exciting finish with all the teams and the crowd getting behind the swimmers in the final boys, girls and mixed cannons, with which Scarborough took two 2nd places.

Scarborough A&B Gala Scarborough Indoor Pool - 16/17th June 2007
Although entries finish officially on the 30th April for our A&B gala, it looks very likely that we will full up by then, and we look forward in receiving all our friends who will be attending the gala. All we need now is the great weather which we have enjoyed for the majority of the 13 years the gala has been in existence.
North Yorkshire League - Gala 1 - Thirsk Indoor Pool 10th March 2007
The younger club members did very well against a strong home team when they competed in the club's first ever North Yorkshire League gala held at Thirsk. The gala remained very competitive for the opening 8 events with the club only trailing by a few points. However, after some fine swims from the hosts saw the club settle into 2nd place. 2nd place was never in any doubt throughout the gala and it was at the halfway stage that saw Ryedale pull away from the bottom team, Derwent Valley.
Result: 1st Thirsk 163pts, 2nd Scarborough 127pts, 3rd Ryedale 110pts, 4th Derwent Valley 83pts
